It is often said that Sciatica and Frozen Shoulder (& shoulder problems in general) can be one of the most painful and wearing long term problems. It is also said that our Frozen Shoulder success rate is what Bowen Technique is most famous for. This in my experience is well deserved.

However I would point out that these problems rarely go away quickly, particularly Frozen Shoulder – in general it is a combination of regular Bowen treatments and Time that is needed. In practically every case of Frozen shoulder I have treated there is always some mobility improvement in each of the two or three initial sessions. Invariably the patient will experience some discomfort following treatments as the body makes its own adjustments. It has also been my experience that it is quite common for the shoulders to go through a ‘healing crisis’ periodically. In most cases Frozen shoulder has occurred due to some long term build up of a problem, which has never been truly sorted out. Quite often those who I see have had Frozen Shoulder before.

Even though Bowen Technique can bring significant improvements quite quickly in comparison to say Physiotherapy, Osteopathy and Chiropractic, it can still take many months for the shoulder to become ‘healthy’ again. As I said it is more often than not a combination of Bowen Technique and Time.  

In most cases of Sciatica I have treated improvement is significant within the first couple of sessions. Again it takes a little time for the sciatic nerve to calm down once the pressure has been relieved. More often than not the pain can be reduced to a niggle which just needs a tweak at bi-monthly intervals, and in many the sciatica is gone completely.
